Last Saturday I mentioned a site that had most of the local climbs listed with elevation gain, average gradient, etc.
http://www.bicycleclimbs.com/
Righ now the feature where you click on the baloon to get the climb info seems to be broken (possibly just my browser). The route I was talking about is the red baloon just south of Monroe. You can zoom in and see the route and if you're a guru with Google Earth maybe extract the elevation info.
As a work around for now go up to the area above the map and click on "List of Climbs". You'll see Zoo Hill ((L'Alp d'Issaquah) for example listed 2.7mi, 1243' elevation gain and 8.8% average gradiant (20% max).
The climb I was talking about is called High Rock Rd. It starts just east of where Tualco Rd comes out on Hwy 203. It's listed as 3.4mi 925' elevation 5.2% average and 10% max grade. You can see from the map that it continues past what they have listed. You've completed most of the elevation gain but I'd guess it still averages 1-2% for the next mile or two up toward Lake Fontal with a nice kicker before you top out at Camp Don Bosco. Kayak Lake is the other thing mentioned on the road signage from 203. Not sure why since it's pretty small and there's no loop road around it. Lake Margaret is the bigger body of water and looks like it could be a good loop for race prep training. Not sure though, a lot of the roads they show on the map may be gravel at best. I'll have to do a recon mission. |
